The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Tuesday morning closed the military checkpoint of Qalandiya in the north of Jerusalem.
The popular committee of Qalandiya refugee camp said that the IOF closed the checkpoint abruptly which caused a heavy build-up of traffic in both directions of the road.
Meanwhile the IOF also closed the road leading to Shi’b al-Batim hamlet east of Yatta town in al-Khalil with mounds of dirt and rocks.
Local official Rateb al-Jabour said that the road connecting Shi’b al-Batim hamlet with Masafer Yatta area had been rehabilitated by the popular committee against the wall and settlement in order to facilitate the access of local residents to their homes and agricultural fields.
Jabour added that IOF bulldozers caused damage to the road several times recently in the context of Israeli attempts to force the local residents to leave their homes and make way for more settlement activities.
