IOF closes Qalandiya checkpoint north of J’lem

Tuesday 26-March-2019

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Tuesday morning closed the military checkpoint of Qalandiya in the north of Jerusalem.

The popular committee of Qalandiya refugee camp said that the IOF closed the checkpoint abruptly which caused a heavy build-up of traffic in both directions of the road.

Meanwhile the IOF also closed the road leading to Shi’b al-Batim hamlet east of Yatta town in al-Khalil with mounds of dirt and rocks.

Local official Rateb al-Jabour said that the road connecting Shi’b al-Batim hamlet with Masafer Yatta area had been rehabilitated by the popular committee against the wall and settlement in order to facilitate the access of local residents to their homes and agricultural fields.

Jabour added that IOF bulldozers caused damage to the road several times recently in the context of Israeli attempts to force the local residents to leave their homes and make way for more settlement activities.

IOF closes Qalandiya checkpoint north of J’lem

Friday 14-December-2018

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Thursday evening closed the military checkpoint of Qalandiya north of Jerusalem and blocked the movement of Palestinian citizens.

According to Quds Press Israeli soldiers closed Qalandiya checkpoint on the road between Jerusalem and Ramallah and prevented Palestinian citizens from crossing it.

The IOF justified the measure by claiming that the checkpoint was hurled with stones by Palestinian young men.

Earlier on the same day Israeli policemen shot dead a Palestinian young man called Majd Mateer from Qalandiya refugee camp after he stabbed two police officers in the Old City of Jerusalem.
