Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Tuesday persisted in large-scale search campaigns in Aqraba town southeast of Nablus to arrest those responsible for the shooting attack at Za’tara checkpoint two days ago.
Local sources reported that a large number of the IOF soldiers were deployed in the center of the town imposed a curfew in the Bani Jaber neighborhood and prevented citizens from leaving their homes.
The sources said that IOF soldiers escorted officers from the Shin Bet security service and turned one of the houses in the neighborhood into a center for field investigation with locals after detaining the residents of the house in one room.
The IOF soldiers broke into the town at 2 a.m. and carried out house-to-house raids during which they searched the houses tampered with their contents and beat citizens.
Clashes erupted between the residents and IOF soldiers who fired metal bullets and tear gas canisters.
IOF confiscated the vehicle that was suspected to have been used in the Za’tara operation which was burned by the people of Aqraba on Monday before the occupation reached it.
The entrances and roads of Awarta Aqraba Majdal Beta and Osrin villages were closed and residents were blocked from entering or leaving by the IOF.
