IOF delivers stop-work order against unfinished house in Sebastia

Tuesday 24-August-2021

The Israeli occupation army on Monday ordered a Palestinian citizen to stop building a house in the ancient town of Sebastia town north of Nablus.

Sebastia mayor Mohamed Azem said that Israeli forces stormed his town and handed a local resident called Mohamed Abu as-Saud a stop-work order against his home.

Mayor Azem added that the IOF also seized a number of mobile structures from an industrial facility belonging to another local resident.

For several months Jewish settlers have organized regular break-ins into the town’s archaeological site every Wednesday under military escort at the pretext that it is an Israeli area.

Ancient sites in the West Bank have been exposed since the end of the 80s to Israeli attempts to place them under military administration and Sebastia is actually one of the Palestinian sites that are treated as public gardens for Jewish settlers.

Settlers also consider Sebastia part of the nearby illegal settlement of Shavei Shomron.
