IOF demolishes agricultural residential facilities in Jordan Valley

Monday 1-February-2021

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) demolished on Monday morning several agricultural and residential facilities in Khirbet Homsa Al-Fawqa in the northern Jordan Valley.

Local sources reported that IOF raided the area escorting bulldozers and began a campaign of demolition of a number of facilities after demanding the residents to evacuate their homes.

The sources confirmed the demolition of several tents of three citizens and a private car was seized and the operation is still ongoing.

Khirbet Homsa witnessed three months ago the largest demolition and displacement operation which caused citizens losses estimated at more than 100000 shekels.

The operation lasted more than 12 continuous hours at that time. Everything in Khirbet Homsa was destroyed and IOF confiscated everything in the town. As a result the people of the Khirbet spent their nights in the open for several days.

The IOF seeks through repeated demolitions to forcibly displace the population from the entire area to build Jewish settlements and military camps.

Meanwhile IOF notified five families to evacuate their homes and remove several tents in Masafer Yatta traveler south of al-Khalil on Sunday.

Ratib al-Jabour the coordinator of the Popular and National Committees to Resist the Wall and Settlements said that IOF raided a Bedouin community near the Khashm al-Daraj area east of Yatta.

IOF also informed five families of the al-Hathalin and al-Muhammeden Bedouins to evacuate from that pastoral area remove their tents and move their herds of cattle under the pretext of conducting military training.

Jabour described this arbitrary measure as part of the IOF policy of forced displacement against the people of Masafer.

He pointed out that targeting the shepherds and preventing them from accessing pastures aim to fight the shepherds in their livelihood.

The livestock is the only source of income for hundreds of Palestinian families and at this time of the year they depend on pastures to feed their sheep Jabour underlined.
