RAFAH (PIC)– IOF gunboats shelled and fired at Palestinian fishermen while in their fishing boats off the Rafah coast at a late hour Wednesday witnesses reported.
They said that the gunboats fired their heavy machineguns in all directions and fired a number of shells at the fishing boats inflicting severe material damage but no casualties.
The fishermen said that they returned ashore fearing for their lives after the shelling and firing intensified.
Witnesses said that increased presence of those gunboats was seen along the Rafah coast especially near the Egyptian-Palestinian borders and kept on firing flares all nightlong.
Fishermen denied that they were smuggling anything into the Strip from Egypt charging that the IOF were fighting them in their sustenance.
