AL-KHALIL (PIC)– IOF troops kidnapped Palestinian MP Hatem Qafisha at a late hour Tuesday night from his home south of Al-Khalil city bringing the number of Palestinian lawmakers kidnapped by those forces to 42.
Relatives of Qafisha told PIC that large numbers of IOF soldiers encircled the house and kidnapped the legislator affiliated with the Hamas parliamentary bloc without any reason given.
The IOA had released Qafisha 46 on 15/12/2006 after two years in administrative detention without trial or charge after he appealed to an Israeli court against his arbitrary detention.
The IOA presented indictment lists against some of those kidnapped PLC members mainly accusing them of membership in the Hamas Movement. The abducted deputies and ministers refused to recognize their trial or the Israeli courts because they were representatives in the Palestinian parliament and as such enjoyed immunity.
The detention of Qafisha who suffers from hypertension and diabetes was renewed for nine consecutive times before his release last December. He was also arrested before his election for many times and spent more than 90 months in Israeli occupation jails under administrative detention orders. He was also among those banished to Marj Al-Zuhur in south Lebanon in 1991.
