IOF kidnaps 24 Palestinians in West Bank sweeps

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Monday arrested 24 Palestinians including ex-prisoners and university students in large scale campaigns launched in the West Bank.

The Israeli occupation army announced in a statement that the IOF over the past hours arrested 22 “wanted” Palestinians who are involved in popular resistance activities.

Local sources in Jerusalem reported that the IOF arrested Basem Zayed and Ammar Muteir after raiding their family houses in Qalandia refugee camp.

The IOF re-arrested the Palestinian ex-prisoner Yahya Rabi’ the chairman of the student union at Birzeit University from his house in al-Mazara’a al-Gharbiya town northwest of Ramallah.

According to Palestinian activists and human rights workers other arrests and house-search campaigns were reported in Ramallah Jenin Salfit Nablus al-Khalil and Qalqilya.

The IOF at daybreak raided the house of the Palestinian ex-prisoner Ibrahim Arafa in Aida refugee camp north of Bethlehem and interrogated and assaulted his family.

Local residents said that the IOF stormed al-Maajeen neighborhood in Nablus and kidnapped the university lecturer Nasr Shreim from his house.

Meanwhile in Jenin the IOF stormed Jenin camp searched many houses and arrested three Palestinian youths.

Eyewitnesses told the PIC reporter that violent clashes broke out in the camp during which the IOF soldiers heavily fired live ammunition and teargas canisters at the Palestinian citizens.

Dozens of Palestinians suffered breathing difficulties as a result of inhaling teargas.
