The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Saturday kidnaped Sheikh Firas Abu Sharkh a noted religious and national figure from his home in al-Kassara area in al-Khalil City.
According to local sources a large number of Israeli soldiers broke into and ransacked the house of Sheikh Abu Sharkh before kidnaping him.
Sheikh Abu Sharkh is an ex-detainee who has spent over four years in Israeli jails. He was also detained several times by the Palestinian Authority security apparatuses.
After his last detention for 12 months the IOF released him on July 9 2019.
The occupation state accuses Sheikh Abu Sharkh of being a member of the Hamas Movement and organizing activities on its behalf in the West Bank.
Sheikh Abu Sharkh who holds a master’s degree in Islamic law works as director of al-Khalil municipality’s public library. He is married with seven children.
His brother Muaad Abu Sharkh was released as part of the 2011 swap deal between the Palestinian resistance and the occupation state before he was exiled later to Gaza.
