The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Wednesday carried out widespread raids on homes and arrests among Palestinian citizens in different West Bank areas.

The Israeli army released a statement claiming its forces arrested 12 Palestinians accused of carrying out attacks against Israelis.

Local sources for their part said that Israeli soldiers kidnapped Ahmed al-Aysh the former president of the student council at Birzeit University from his home in Birzeit town north of Ramallah.

They added that the soldiers also kidnapped two other Birzeit University students called Amr al-Rimawi and Ahmed Faraj during their campaign in the town.

In Bethlehem the IOF kidnapped two citizens in Taqua town and another one in al-Khader town according to local sources.

Meanwhile the IOF detained and interrogated at dawn 20 Palestinian ex-detainees in Asira ash-Shamaliya town north of Nablus before releasing them later.

The detainees were taken from their homes to a wedding reception hall in the town where they were interrogated for nearly two hours before they were let go.

In Tulkarem IOF troops stormed at dawn Attil town where they ransacked homes and a workshop and interrogated citizens.

Locals told the PIC that dozens of Israeli soldiers forced residents of an apartment building in the central neighborhood of the town to stay outdoors for several hours before they broke into it and searched its units.

They added that the soldiers assaulted families and wreaked havoc on furniture as they were searching homes in the town.

The soldiers also pillaged a metalworking workshop belonging to a citizen called Azem Tawfiq before they withdrew from the town according to eyewitnesses.

In Jenin violent clashes broke out last night between local young men and Israeli troops at the main entrance to Qabatiya town in the south.

Eyewitnesses also reported seeing soldiers intercepting Palestinian cars and citizens on a road near the petrol station between Burqin and Qabatiya towns without making arrests.
