IOF lays siege to W. Bank town of Huwara

Saturday 21-May-2022

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) imposed last night and at dawn Saturday a tight siege on Huwara town south of Nablus.

Huwara mayor Mu’ein Dhamidi said that the IOF used bulldozers to block most of the town’s internal roads that lead to the main road and the Huwara-Einabus road.

Dhamidi added that the IOF also set up military posts on some buildings and spread through the main road to prevent any attempt to reopen the blocked streets.

He affirmed that such IOF practices paralyzed the movement of local residents isolated several areas from the town and caused traffic jams in some areas.

He expressed his belief that these road closures happened as mass punishment against the local residents after a march of Palestinian flags was organized on Friday evening in the town in response to a provocative settler rally that was staged under military protection on the main road.
