IOF quells Ni’lin Kafr Qaddum peaceful marches

Friday 27-October-2017

Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) on Friday quelled two anti-settlement marches in Kafr Qaddum and Ni’lin villages in the West Bank.

In Ramallah the IOF attacked participants in the peaceful march launched in Ni’lin village after Friday prayer against the settlement and the Separation Wall according to Mohammad Amira member of the Popular Committee against Separation Wall and Settlement in the town.

He said that IOF soldiers attacked the participants with tear gas canisters as they approached the Separation Wall south of the town. They also chased the participants in olive fields.

The march was held under the theme “I have the right to reach my land” in protest at restricting the number of farmers who are allowed to access their lands via the Separation Wall’s gate in order to pick olives in their lands located behind the wall.

Meanwhile in Qalqilya the IOF quelled the Kafr Qaddum weekly march which demands opening the village’s road that has been closed for more than 14 years in favor of the Israeli settlers living in the nearby Kedumim settlement.

Popular resistance coordinator in Kafr Qaddum Murad Shtewi said that IOF soldiers stormed the village and showered the protesters with rubber-coated metal bullets sound bombs and tear gas canisters. The soldiers also gave chase to Palestinians along with foreign solidarity activists. No injuries or arrests resulted.

A number of foreign peace activists participated in the march alongside the Kafr Qaddum residents.
