IOF quells march settlers attack olive farmers in Nablus

Tuesday 1-November-2022

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) attacked on Tuesday a Palestinian march staged to protest the ongoing siege on Nablus while a horde of extremist Jewish settlers assaulted Palestinian farmers in Qaryut village.

According to local sources a number of Palestinian citizens suffered from their exposure to tear gas after the IOF at the Huwara checkpoint in southern Nablus attacked the march they organized to demand an end to the siege imposed on Nablus.

About three weeks ago the IOF started to impose a tight siege on the Palestinians in Nablus and roadblocks and checkpoints still prevent vehicles from moving in and out of the province.

The Israeli army claims the siege on Nablus is intended to stop attacks against Israeli targets by a local armed group called the Lions’ Den.

In southern Nablus a horde of settlers attacked Palestinian female farmers as they were collecting olives from a grove in Qaryut village.

Local sources said that the settlers were trying to steal olives while soldiers intervened and detained a number of local residents after they tried to fend off the settlers.

In a separate incident the IOF expelled six Palestinian impoverished families from their homes in Khirbet Humsa al-Fuqa hamlet in the northern Jordan Valley at the pretext of securing the area for military drills.

According to local sources the Israeli army notified those families at the end of last week of its intent to carry out military exercises around their area and ordered them to leave their homes on Tuesday.

In Qalqilya the IOF bulldozed swaths of Palestinian-owned land in Azzun town particularly near the town’s main entrance and the road between Qalqilya and Nablus.
