Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Friday quelled two separate marches launched in al-Khalil in protest at the latest Israeli measures in the city.
The first march was launched to protest the decision issued recently by the Israeli war minister Aigdor Lieberman which stipulates the formation of an independent municipal council for the Jewish quarter in the heart al-Khalil.
The participants raised Palestinian flags and banners calling for ending the Israeli measures in al-Khalil.
The IOF dispersed the march by force fired tears gas canisters at the protesters and prevented them from reaching the center of the city.
Meanwhile the IOF quelled another march to the south of al-Khalil which demanded opening the road of Khirbet Qalqas village that has been blocked for years with sand barriers.
The IOF soldiers fired tear gas canisters at the protesters and arrested two of them.
