IOF settlers storm al-Khalil clash with Palestinian citizens

Violent clashes broke out on Saturday evening in the central area of al-Khalil City when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and hordes of extremist Jewish settlers assaulted Palestinian citizens and their stores.

According to local sources the clashes started after a large number of Israeli troops stormed the streets of az-Zawiya and Beersheba in order to provide protection for about 30000 settlers.

The settlers many of them armed went on the rampage through the area assaulting local residents stores and property.

Eyewitnesses said that those settlers rallied in different areas of al-Khalil City in order to celebrate a religious occasion especially at the Ibrahimi Mosque in the streets of az-Zawiya ash-Shuhada and Beersheba and near Osama bin al-Munqid School in the Old City.

They added that dozens of citizens suffered from their exposure to tear gas during clashes between the IOF and angry local youths in the city.

Groups of extremist settlers also stormed Beit as-Sumoud area in Tel Rumeida neighborhood in central al-Khalil in an attempt to attack Palestinian homes and vehicles but local youths managed to fend them off.

The settlers also attacked a number of homes in al-Khalil during their rallies including the home of Imad Abu Shamsiya in ash-Shuhada street.

Palestinian medical sources reported that a number of Palestinian citizens suffered bruises and injuries when armed settlers assaulted them in Tel Rumeida and other neighborhoods of the Old City.

The IOF also rounded up several Palestinian young men as they were defending homes and stores in the Old City against settler attacks.

In another incident the IOF clashed on the same day with Palestinian young men in Zububa village and stormed Rummanah village in western Jenin.

Several young men reportedly suffered from inhaling tear gas during the events in Zububa village.
