Thursday 12-July-2007

GAZA (PIC)– An IOF soldier was killed and two others wounded in the IOF incursion into central Gaza at an early hour on Thursday while two Palestinian resistance fighters were injured one seriously in the same area.

PIC correspondent reported that the Qassam Brigades the armed wing of the Hamas Movement ambushed an IOF unit that was attempting to infiltrate into the Gaza Strip east of Breij refugee camp.

He added that after the unit advanced 600 meters into Palestinian lands the armed wing’s fighters blasted a new device in the troops and fired at them inflicting the casualties.

Security sources and eyewitnesses said that Israeli choppers were sent to evacuate the casualties as ambulance cars rushed to the borders with Gaza to carry a number of them.

The armed wing said in a communiqué that its fighters monitored the advancing unit and ambushed its members at 02.30 am (local time) Thursday.

It noted that IOF troops opened intensive fire in all directions to cover for the retreat of the special force.

Meanwhile PIC correspondent reported that two Palestinian resistance combatants were injured when an IOF drone fired a missile at them in the same area.

Medical sources said that one of them was “seriously” wounded.

The correspondent noted that the drone targeted a group of fighters affiliated with the Quds Brigades the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement.

More than 30 IOF armored vehicles were seen advancing into central Gaza and bulldozed Palestinian agricultural lands cultivated with olives.

The Qassam Brigades on Wednesday declared that a number of its fighters had participated in a commando attack on occupation soldiers west of the West Bank city of Nablus.

A QB spokesman said that its elements joined Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades the PFLP armed wing in ambushing an IOF patrol blasting a device in one of the jeeps and firing at the soldiers.

The QB has been under constant pressure in the West Bank on the part of the IOF troops and lately at the hands of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas’s security elements that greatly diminished its active role in resisting occupation in the West Bank.
