IOF soldier moderately hurt in suspected ramming attack

Wednesday 12-January-2022

An Israeli soldier was moderately wounded on Tuesday evening in what Israeli media sources said was a suspected car-ramming attack near the illegal settlement of Halamish near Ramallah.

The driver “accelerated his car toward a number of soldiers” an Israeli military spokesperson said in a statement adding the car “hit a soldier who has been evacuated to a hospital by an Israeli Air Force helicopter that was dispatched to the scene.”

The suspect was arrested and “transferred for further questioning” along with a second person the statement read.

A video published by Israeli media showed two suspects one of them suffering head injuries were arrested blindfolded and handcuffed.

The IOF has deployed additional soldiers near Halamish settlement and closed entrances to Al-Nabi Saleh village northwest of Ramallah.

Commenting on the incident spokesman of Hamas Movement Hazem Qassem hailed the “heroic operation” against the Israeli soldiers considering it a natural response to Israeli crimes.

“The escalation in resistance operations in the West Bank is a natural response to the occupation and its criminal policy against our people holy sites and prisoners” he said.

The incident came amid a rise in Israeli forces and settlers’ attacks against Palestinians and their properties in the West Bank.
