IOF soldiers wreak havoc on dozens of houses in Balata camp

Tuesday 3-January-2017

The sight of destruction that befell a number of houses in Balata refugee camp in Nablus at the hands of Israeli occupation forces (IOF) was not so different from that of thousands of houses that were savagely destroyed back in 1948 except that those in Balata were accurately documented and published on social media.

Nasser Sbaitan stood amidst the mess that the IOF soldiers inflicted on his three-story house after it was savagely searched to indicate what happened to his home that was also shared by his sons.

Nothing inside the house was safe from the destruction of the Israeli soldiers in addition to terrorizing children with the police dogs he added.

Hundreds of Israeli soldiers raided the camp from all sides after midnight Monday and began storming houses and investigating people before arresting five young men most of them ex-prisoners.

According to Sbaitan Israeli soldiers served him a summons to the police station in Ariel and told him that his two sons should surrender themselves to the IOF.

A few meters away lies the house of Hasan al-Araj which was similarly stormed by Israeli forces who did not leave anything in its place.

He pointed out that the IOF soldiers gathered his family in one room for two hours and then they moved them to another room without any consideration to the fact that some of them were ill.

The house of Saleh al-Teeti who is wanted for both the Palestinian and Israeli authorities in Maghdoushe neighborhood was not spared the Israeli barbaric search despite being empty.

Saleh’s brother said that the IOF soldiers knocked down the door with sharp tools and they inspected every room wreaking havoc in the process on the entire house.

Balata camp information center monitored IOF raids on 30 houses in the camp in addition to the arrest of five Palestinian youths.
