Violent clashes broke out Wednesday morning between local young men and the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in al-Am’ari refugee camp in Ramallah where a local citizen suspected of killing a soldier with a marble slab was reportedly arrested.
Two Palestinian young men were injured by live bullets and three others by rubber bullets during the events in al-Am’ari camp according to a statement released by the Red Crescent on Wednesday.
In this regard Haaretz newspaper quoted a military source as saying that a Palestinian was arrested during a campaign in the camp for his role in the death of an Israeli soldier from the elite unit Duvdevan at the end of May.
The detainee was identified as Aslam Yussef Abu Hamid 32 and he was arrested as part of a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the Israeli army after intelligence information claimed he might have thrown the marble slab over the head of soldier Ronen Lubarsky on May 24 who later died in hospital.
Meanwhile the IOF kidnapped a young man called Muhand Attawil after storming his home in Silwad town east of Ramallah.
In Qalqilya the IOF raided homes in Azzun town obstructed traffic at its main entrance and kidnapped a Palestinian citizen from his home.
They also stormed Ya’bad town in Jenin clashed with local young men and raided homes with no reported arrests.
