IOF suppresses West Bank weekly protests

Friday 1-October-2021

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) suppressed on Friday the anti-occupation weekly protests in the West Bank.

Dozens of youths were injured as demonstrators were violently dispersed during the weekly protests in the towns of Beita and Beit Dajan near Nablus.

However the local youths managed to down an Israeli drone in Beita town. The Israeli drone was dropping tear gas on Palestinian protesters in the town.

Five youths suffered rubber-coated metal bullet injuries while 51 others suffered breathing problems due to the IOF heavy firing of teargas bombs during Beit Dajan anti-settlement marches.

Similar clashes broke out in al-Khalil south of West Bank when Israeli forces stormed Bab Al-Zawiya area amid heavy firing of teargas bombs.

Also in al-Khalil dozens of Palestinians performed Friday prayers in a solidarity tent in support of Palestinian prisoner Miqdad Al-Qawasmeh who has been on hunger strike for 72 days.

The participants stressed the urgent need for the release of all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

In Qalqilya an 11-year-old child was shot and injured during a peaceful anti-settlement march in Kafr Qaddum town.

Dozens others suffered breathing problems during the weekly protest.

Palestinians typically hold weekly demonstrations to protest Israel’s illegal settlement activities and the separation wall that snakes through the occupied West Bank.

Israel began construction of the wall on the occupied West Bank in 2002 in total violation of international laws and norms.
