The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) tightened Thursday morning their military restrictions in al-Khalil and the neighboring towns local sources revealed.
Several military checkpoints were also erected at the northern entrances to the city and the nearby towns while several roads were closed in the area the sources added.
Meanwhile IOF took control of a local house in Kharssa town south of al-Khalil and occupied its roof under the pretext of protecting settlers’ marches which coincide with the third day of the Passover.
Israeli forces also intensified their military presence throughout the Old City and near the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Earlier on Wednesday hundreds of settlers carried out collective break-ins into an ancient building in al-Khalil marking the second day of Passover.
Palestinian commercial shops in al-Khalil’s Beer Sheva Street were forced to shut down during the settlers’ marches.
