IOF to impose hermetic closure on West Bank Gaza

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) announced on Sunday the closure of crossings to the West Bank and Gaza Strip for what they call Memorial and Independence days.

A military cordon will be imposed on the occupied West Bank during the closure. In addition Beit Hanoun (Erez) and Karam Abu Salem crossings the checkpoints with the besieged Gaza Strip will be completely closed.

The closure will begin on Tuesday the 3rd of May which coincides with the second day of Eid al-Fitr and last until midnight between Thursday and Friday the 6th of May according to the IOF statement.

The IOF spokesman said that the closure decision was taken according to “security situation assessment and directives of the political leadership.”

During the closure no person would be allowed to cross from Gaza Strip and the West Bank into 1948 Occupied Palestine. “However exceptions will be made for humanitarian and other outstanding cases but will require the approval of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories” the IOF spokesman added.
