IOF troops admit killing Jordanian national in Jericho

Wednesday 22-November-2006

Nazareth – The IOF troops have acknowledged killing a Jordanian national at a checkpoint in the West Bank city of Jericho Tuesday morning adding that the Jordanian young man was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers at the checkpoint.

An IOF spokesman alleged that the youth was brandishing a toy gun before gunning him down with the soldiers’ bullets adding that the unidentified youth had served an imprisonment term in an Israeli jail for attempting to stab a number of Israeli soldiers.

The incident irked Palestinian inhabitants of the city who rushed to the checkpoint to see what happened and to identify the fatality.

A number of Palestinian travelers crossing the barrier affirmed that the soldiers had promptly shot at the young man without warning him. In the aftermath of the incident they added the soldiers sealed off the checkpoint and dispersed the gathered Palestinian citizens.

In Jabalia town in northern Gaza Strip hospital sources announced the martyrdom of Palestinian citizen Ahmed Al-Mousa 20 who died Tuesday of wounds he earlier sustained in IOF troops shelling of the town.

According to Muawyah Abu Hasanien director-general of the emergency department in the PA health ministry the Palestinian youth was hit with shrapnel of an Israeli air-to-surface missile fired at a group of Palestinian citizens east of the town.

He added that 17 Palestinian citizens were injured in the raid describing the conditions of three of them as moderate-to-serious.
