IOF troops arrest 22 Palestinians overnight

Wednesday 20-December-2006

JENIN (PIC)- IOF troops late Tuesday and early Wednesday arrested 22 Palestinian citizens in various West Bank cities and villages within their daily campaign of arrests in lines of the Palestinian West Bankers.

The Hebrew radio quoted an IOF spokesman as saying that the captured Palestinians were arrested in Nablus Tulkarm Ramallah Bethlehem and Al-Khalil.

He underlined that an IOF unit came under fire in Nablus city during an incursion into that West Bank city.

In Al-Khalil locals said that IOF soldiers arrested PA local government assistant undersecretary Ahmed Al-Atawne in his home after thoroughly searching it.

They recalled that Atawne who is a member of Hamas Movement was only released from Israeli jails five months ago after three years of administrative detention without trial or charge.

The IOF troops early Wednesday murdered two activists affiliated with the Quds Brigades the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Jenin.

For its part the armed wing vowed to revenge for the murder of its two cadres in the “Zionist depth”.

Abu Ahmed the armed wing spokesman said that the assassination posed as another flagrant violation of the ceasefire adding that all options were open for his group’s fighters to retaliate to the Israeli murder including human bombing operations and firing missiles from the Gaza Strip.

He said that his armed wing should not be held responsible for violating the truce in view of the IOF repeated breaches which he said had reached 457 violations.

The armed wing declared responsibility for firing two “upgraded” Quds missiles at Sderot in two separate operations Wednesday as a preliminary retaliation to the assassination of the two field commanders.

The Nasser Salahuddin Brigades armed wing of the PRC had declared on Tuesday that its fighters fired two Nasser-3 missiles at Sderot calling on the Palestinian fighters to direct their weapons at the “enemy that is occupying our lands and killing our women and children”.
