RAMALLAH (PIC)– IOF troops on Thursday evening arrested Dr. Aziz Dweik Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council again while travelling from Ramallah to his home in al-Khalil in the southern West Bank.
Sources travelling with Dr. Dweik said that IOF soldiers stopped the car in which Dweik was travelling with his bodyguard and detained them in the cold at Jaba’ roadblock which is a permanent military roadblock at the southern entrance to Ramallah. After about 20 minutes the soldiers informed his bodyguard that he should leave because Dweik was under arrest.
Dr. Dweik was on his way home after a visit he made toPLC member Sheikh Hamed al-Beitawi in hospital in the northern West Bank city of Nablus.
This is the second time Dweik is arrested while occupying the post of PLC speaker. The first time was in 2006 where he spent three years in occupation jails and the second was on Thursday.
