IOF troops arrest campaign in West Bank escalates amidst fierce clashes

Thursday 15-February-2007

NABLUS (PIC)– The IOF troops arrested more than 15 Palestinian citizens at dawn Thursday as Israeli occupation soldiers ransacked and raided a number of Palestinian homes across the West Bank Palestinian sources revealed.

The sources said that large numbers of IOF troops backed by military vehicles stormed Nablus city and the Ein Beit Al-Ma refugee camp west of the city.

The sources affirmed that the IOF troops searched a number of Palestinian homes and arrested at least five Palestinian citizens before wreaking havoc in their houses.

Five more Palestinian youths were wounded in fierce clashes with IOF troops in the nearby Tulkarm city as they held demonstrations against the ongoing IOA excavations at the Aqsa Mosque.

Eyewitnesses affirmed to the PIC that the Israeli occupation soldiers fired live and rubber-coated bullets including the internationally-prohibited Dumdum bullets at the demonstrators.

Similar clashes were reported in Salfit district between the fully geared IOF troops on the one hand and stone-throwing Palestinian youths on the other hand. A Palestinian citizen was injured in the clashes.

In Jenin city three relatives of Palestinian fighter Mahmoud Abu Al-Jaheem were arrested at the hands of IOF troops that raided the city in a bid to pressure him to surrender. Abu Al-Jaheem is a field commander of the Quds Brigades armed wing of the Islamic Jihad.

More IOF atrocities were registered in Al-Khalil city as Israeli soldiers stormed the city’s Ehsan charity that cares and rehabilitates 120 disabled Palestinian children in the city inflicting material damage on it.

In addition around 20 armed Israeli settlers protected by IOF troops have seized Palestinian home in the city’s old town and refused to leave it.

The settlers’ act was sanctioned by the Israeli occupation government that aims at controlling the city and turning it into a purely Jewish city after it succeeded in dividing the Ibrahimi Mosque between Jews and Muslims in 1994.

In Gaza Strip Palestinian resistance fighters retaliated to those relentless Israeli hostilities and detonated a road-side bomb in an IOF patrol passing parallel to the fence separating the Strip from the 1948-occupied Palestinian lands. The Hebrew radio reported the attack but claimed no casualties in IOF lines.
