JENIN (PIC)– A special Israeli force assassinated at an early hour Monday the field commander of the Quds Brigades the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement Mahmoud Nazzal 26 south of Qabatia town Jenin district.
Eyewitnesses said that IOF soldiers disguised in Palestinian plain clothes infiltrated into the town in a Mercedes car and ambushed the field commander after receiving intelligence information on his moves.
They added that the soldiers fired at a Hyundai car carrying four passengers on arrival to the scene of the ambush.
Large numbers of IOF troops immediately arrived at the scene and blocked Palestinian ambulance cars from evacuating the casualties according to the witnesses.
An IOF spokesman said that Nazzal was killed in the operation and that three of his associates were arrested including one who was injured in the incident.
Nazzal had previously survived a number of IOF arrests and assassination bids.
The Quds Brigades issued a statement mourning the martyr and vowing reprisal affirming that resistance against occupation would continue regardless of assassinations or arrests. It also asked all Palestinian factions to unite and not to drop their guns in confrontation with the Israeli occupation.
