JENIN (PIC)– Municipal council of the Zababda town near Jenin city has strongly condemned the IOF deliberate destruction of the town’s main electric transformer Wednesday that covered the entire town with total darkness.
In a statement it issued in this regard and a copy of which was obtained by the PIC the council affirmed “The intentional Israeli destruction of the transformer was part of the Israeli occupation government’s policy of mass punishment against the Palestinian people and destruction of their properties and infrastructures”.
The IOF assault on the town’s electricity network was the second in less than two months as those troops had previously targeted the high-voltage network in the town causing a blackout in the town for 20 hours.
Victor Khader the municipal mayor estimated his town’s losses at 20 thousand dollars excluding the losses inflicted on foundries and homes of the town’s inhabitants.
In this regard Khader urged international and local legal and human rights organizations to put pressure on the Israeli occupation government to stop such unwarranted and violent practices.
In an unrelated matter Palestinian resistance fighters from the Islamic Jihad fired a homemade missile and three mortar rounds at the Israeli Sderot settlement and the IOF musters at the Kissufim crossing point in southern Gaza Strip.
The fighters underscored that the attacks were in retaliation to the non-stop IOF aggressions on the Palestinian people and their properties that according to them hadn’t come to a respite even for a single day.
On the other hand sources in the Palestinian resistance strongly condemned the unwarranted act of the PA National Security apparatus which is attached to PA chief Mahmoud Abbas of uncovering a tunnel in Jabalia city dug by the resistance fighters to trap IOF troops in case they invaded the area.
According to the sources plans of the Palestinian resistance to confront possible IOF invasion were “sometimes” jeopardized by suspicious groups alleging patriotism but in fact working against Palestinian national interests.
Palestinian citizens in the area were disgruntled over the apparatus leaders’ attempts to mix cards in the Palestinian arena and to defame image of the Palestinian resistance by alleging that those tunnels were targeting PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and Fatah fighters. However the Palestinian people didn’t buy those allegations.
The sources furthermore unveiled that the PA NS played an unsolicited role in unmasking a number of important plans and preparations by the Palestinian resistance to block the IOF troops.
