IOF troops intercept anti-wall march detain many participants

Saturday 3-March-2007

BETHLEHEM (PIC)– IOF troops on Friday intercepted a massive Palestinian march organized in Um Salamone village south of Bethlehem to protest the construction of the separation wall on village lands.

The soldiers detained vehicles that carried the participants in the march which started from the town center to lands where constructions works are under way to build the racist wall.

Dr. Mustafa Al-Barghouthi a PLC member and leader of independent Palestine bloc delivered a statement hailing steadfastness of the citizens who defend their lands in face of confiscation.

He urged the national and Islamic forces to accord top priority to the question of lands that are seized by occupation forces at the pretext of building the racist wall.

Other speakers said that Israel was “strangling” what is left of Palestinian land in the West Bank through building that wall.

Others called for joining efforts to abort the occupation’s plan of eating up more Palestinian lands.

One of the foreign sympathizers taking part in the rally called for organizing more such protest rallies in support of the Palestinian people’s just cause.
