IOF troops kidnap 65 Palestinians in Bethlehem last month including 20 minors

Monday 5-March-2007

BETHLEHEM (PIC)– IOF troops last month kidnapped 65 Palestinians from the Bethlehem district including 20 children less than 18 years old according to a Palestinian legal society.

The Palestinian prisoner’s club said in a statement on Sunday that the IOF troops were persisting in their relentless daily arrest campaigns in lines of the Palestinian people in the Bethlehem district as well as other West Bank areas.

It charged the IOF command of sending heavily armed troops and police dogs into Palestinian civilian homes.

The club’s director in the district Abdullah Al-Zaghari noted that the IOF command had intensified their arrest campaigns after the Makkah agreement that paved the way before formation of a Palestinian national unity government.

He underlined that Palestinian detainees in occupation jails especially children were subjected to beatings and torture in Maskobeh detention center in occupied Jerusalem to force them confess to crimes which they did not commit.

Meanwhile Hebrew press quoted security sources on Sunday as revealing that Israeli intelligence had kidnapped a month ago a Palestinian man charged with supplying resistance factions with metal pipes used in manufacturing missiles that were fired at Israeli targets.

The sources said that the intelligence apparatuses kept the kidnapping of Amer Zaki 37 from the Gaza Strip who used to purchase those pipes from Israel unannounced until Sunday citing security reasons.

They underlined that the commander of the southern IOF command banned the entry of Israeli metal pipes into the Strip after that revelation.
