IOF troops kidnap Fatah lawmaker 10 others in Nablus raids

Tuesday 29-May-2007

NABLUS (PIC)– At least 10 Palestinian citizens including a lawmaker from Fatah faction were arrested at the hands of the IOF troops that raided a number of Palestinian homes in Nablus city and the nearby Balata refugee camp at dawn Tuesday.

Palestinian local sources revealed that large numbers of Israeli occupation soldiers surrounded the Dwaikat building near the refugee camp and captured Fatah legislator Jamal Al-Tairawi and four of his bodyguards in addition to five Hamas cadres.

The arrest of Tairawi is the first in the line of Fatah legislators as previous IOF kidnap campaigns were exclusively against Hamas lawmakers and elected officials.

In Nablus proper Palestinian citizen Majdi Fayez Ashour the bodyguard of PA planning minister Dr. Sameer Abu Aisha was also arrested after IOF troops used Palestinian minor Ala’a Al-Safadi as a human shield to carry out the arrest.

Around 18 Palestinian citizens from Hamas and Fatah cadres were rounded up by the IOF troops in a number of the West Bank cities on Monday the Hebrew radio reported.

Also on Monday two Palestinian citizens were wounded in a late night Israeli air strike at Palestinian homes in Beit Lahia city north of Gaza Strip.

Hospital sources in the town described injuries of the two citizens as “moderate”.

The sport club in Beit Hanon city was also targeted by the Israeli rockets that flattened it to the ground and spread panic in the area although no casualties were reported.

The relentless IOF troops’ targeting of Palestinian civilians and infrastructure have apparently prompted Palestinian resistance fighters to retaliate to those atrocities as they ambushed Israeli occupation soldiers in Nablus and Jenin cities in addition to detonating a roadside bomb in an IOF patrol attempting to infiltrate into Tobas town Jenin district.

In Gaza Strip Palestinian resistance fighters from the DFLP engaged an IOF special unit in armed clashes in the Fakhari area east of Khan Younis city.

Two of the Qassam Brigades fighters were martyred after they tried to block an infiltration attempt by IOF special units near Soufa crossing point east of southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah.

But despite the intensive Israeli choppers’ hovering in Gaza sky fighters of the Qassam Brigades succeeded in unleashing a number of their homemade rockets at Sderot settlement and the IOF-controlled Erez crossing point.

The QB warned that it will hit back at the IOF troops with all the strength it has in retaliation to the ongoing Israeli massacres against Palestinian civilians in Gaza Strip.
