IOF troops kill 39 Palestinian children in less than 4 months

GAZA (PIC)– The chairman of the defense for children international (DCI) – Palestine Branch George Abul Zuluf has revealed in a message that 39 Palestinian children were killed at the hands of IOF troops in the period 29/9/2006 to 14/2/2009.

He said in the message addressed to the chairman of the committee on the rights of the child at the UN high commissioner for human rights office in Switzerland that five of those children were less than 8 years old.

Abul Zuluf maintained that the IOF land and aerial bombing is still the main reason for deaths in lines of Palestinian children. He explained that 20 children were killed in those shelling while 12 were murdered in IOF random firing and 5 in clashes between those soldiers and Palestinian resistance fighters while two were killed in extrajudicial executions by IOF troops in lines of Palestinian activists.

He noted that 20 of them more than half of the total number were killed in the IOF campaign on the Gaza Strip last November.

The DCI chairman said that the Israeli military strategy seriously threatens the life of Palestinian children since it pursues indiscriminate attacks that lead to big casualties in lines of civilians in addition to destroying the infrastructure in grave violations of children rights and international laws.

Abul Zuluf urged the chairman of the committee on the rights of the child to ask the Hebrew state to live up to commitments in accordance with international laws and agreements and asked him to visit the Palestinian lands to have a first hand look into the case of Palestinian children’s human rights.

In a related development the Palestinian prisoner’s club in Al-Khalil south of the West Bank charged the IOF with causing the death of a Palestinian little girl.

In a press release the club said that 7-year-old Ibtisam Al-Tarda who died Friday night was terrorized when IOF soldiers broke into their family home and arrested her father on 1st of February in Tafuh town and was suffering psychologically since then.

It said that the IOF soldiers violently burst into their home at a late hour at night and beat up her father before taking him away. The father is currently held in Ofer prison with a heart ailment the club’s statement pointed out.
