IOF troops round up tens of Palestinians retain Nablus under siege

Wednesday 27-December-2006

NABLUS (PIC)– IOF troops rounded up 22 Palestinians from various West Bank areas late Tuesday night and four others in Nablus city at an early hour on Wednesday after storming the city in more than 20 armored vehicles.

The Hebrew radio quoted an IOF spokesman as saying that the 22 Palestinians were either affiliated with resistance factions or extending support to them.

He said that they were arrested in Bethlehem Al-Khalil Jenin and Nablus.

On Wednesday locals in Nablus said that IOF soldiers burst into many buildings in a number of Nablus suburbs before arresting the four who included a teenager.

Meanwhile the IOF command decided to retain the tight security siege imposed on Nablus at the pretext of warding off Palestinian resistance attacks.

West Bankers did not notice any “facilities” promised during PA chief Mahmoud Abbas’ meeting with Israeli premier Ehud Olmert a few days ago for Palestinian West Bankers.

In another development the Hebrew radio said that the Rafah terminal between Gaza and Egypt would re-open for two days on Wednesday and Thursday before Palestinian travelers.

It quoted a Palestinian source as saying that the crossing would open after reaching an agreement to that effect between PA and Israeli officials under Egyptian and European patronage.
