Tuesday 22-May-2007

AL-KHALIL (PIC)– Large group of IOF troops has stormed the office of the change and reform parliamentary bloc and sealed it off after confiscating everything inside MP Sameera Al-Halayka of the bloc affirmed Monday.

According to Al-Halayka the IOF troops surrounded the office which extends services to the city’s inhabitants and stormed it in a pre-dawn raid Monday before confiscating computers copy machines printers and fax machines inside.

She added that the raid was the third of its kind as the IOF troops had broken through the office few months ago and arrested its director Mohammed Shabana who was later placed under administrative detention. The second raid she added was in the middle of the last month of April.

“These unwarranted IOF practices reveal the mentality of the Israeli occupation that knows nothing but killing destruction and spreading mischief on earth” said the bloc’s MP.

But she vowed that the bloc’s MPs won’t surrender to the Israeli dictates and that they will resume their activities even at roadside in service to their constituents urging international and local legal and human right institutions to immediately act to expose the Israeli human rights violations.

In an unrelated matter the UNESCO commissioner Quishero Matsuura has strongly condemned the deliberate killing of two Palestinian journalists of the newly founded Palestine newspaper at the hands of PA presidential guards urging an investigation to find the killers.

“I personally condemn the killing of journalists Abdul Rahim Al-Ashi and Mohammed Abdo as the crime wasn’t only against their persons but  it rather was against the right of the community to get information and against freedom of expression as well” the commissioner affirmed in a statement issued by his office.

Moreover Matsuura urged PA presidency and PA unity government to exert more efforts to spare lives of the journalists and to help improve living conditions of the Palestinian people.
