IOF violently quells Palestinian protests in the West Bank

Violent clashes erupted on Friday afternoon in the West Bank after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) suppressed anti-settlement protests in its various areas.

In Nablus clashes erupted as the weekly anti-settlement rallies were organized in Beita and Beit Dajan towns.

The clashes broke out near Jabal Subaih area in Beita town south of Nablus amid IOF firing of teargas bombs and rubber bullets.

Similar clashes were reported in Beit Dajan town as increasing numbers of Israeli troops were deployed in the town. The IOF soldiers intensively fired teargas and sound bombs.

A Palestinian young man was injured when Jewish settlers stoned his car near Beit Furik checkpoint to the east of Nablus.

In Qalqilia clashes broke out in Kafr Qaddoum town where at least six rubber-coated bullet injuries were reported while dozens of other citizens were treated for tear-gas inhalation.

In al-Khalil several Palestinians suffered breathing difficulties due to the IOF firing of tear-gas bombs to disperse protesters in Bab Al-Zawiya area.

Every Friday Palestinians stage demonstrations across the West Bank to protest Israel’s ongoing policy of building Jewish-only settlements on stolen Palestinian land.

According to estimates some 640000 Jewish settlers currently live on 196 settlements and more than 200 settler outposts throughout the occupied West Bank.
