IOF violently quells weekly march in Kafr Qaddum

Saturday 13-February-2021

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed on Saturday Kafr Qaddum town east of Qalqilya and violently quelled its weekly march. A Palestinian young man was wounded by a sponge bullet and dozens of others suffered breathing difficulty.

Eyewitnesses reported that IOF raided the town after the beginning of the weekly Kafr Qaddum march and fired at the participants sponge and rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters which were also fired at citizens’ houses causing breathing problem to dozens of villagers.

The Palestinian youths responded to the IOF attack by throwing stones at the soldiers and throwing back the tear gas canisters.

On Friday Kafr Qaddum witnessed a similar march with the participation of hundreds of townspeople during which they went to the gate that closes the main street.

The importance of the closed entrance to the village lies in the fact that it is the passage that connects Kafr Qaddum and its surroundings to other Palestinian villages and towns.

Every Friday and Saturday marches are launched denouncing settlement activity in different areas of the West Bank. The participants perform Friday prayer on lands threatened with confiscation and clashes erupt during the IOF quelling of these marches.
