IPS isolates life-sentenced Palestinian for burning occupation flag

Friday 17-February-2017

The Israeli prison service (IPS) in Gilboa jail isolated a Palestinian detainee for burning the Israeli flag.

The committee of Jerusalemite prisoners’ families said the IPS isolated the Palestinian detainee Ayman al-Sharbati after he burned the Israeli flag in protest at the latest aggressions and torture against Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails.

The IPS slapped a two-month visit-ban against the detainee and sentenced him to a steep fine.

Prisoner al-Sharbati is serving a life-sentence and has been held for over 21 years in Israeli jails.

Ever since he was arrested on March 17 1998 he has been subjected to tormenting investigation on charges of carrying out an anti-occupation attack in the Old City of Jerusalem.
