The Israeli prison service (IPS) has transferred Sheikh Ra’ed Salah head of the Islamic Movement in Israel suddenly to Ramon jail without informing his lawyers.
The lawyers representing Sheikh Salah condemned the Israeli measure as a human rights violation and affirmed that he was taken to another jail without informing them or providing legal reasons for his transfer.
The lawyers said that they see the measure against Sheikh Salah as “punitive” and “part of the violations that target him and his family.”
“Such behavior confirms the targeting policy pursued by the Israeli enterprise against Sheikh Salah who was unjustly jailed for defending his views thoughts and values and upholding his Palestinian-Arab identity and his Islamic beliefs…” his defense crew underlined.
Last March the Israeli district court in Beersheba extended the solitary confinement of Sheikh Salah for additional six months. He was isolated in Beersheba detention center (Ohalei Keidar jail).
