IPS transfers prisoner Ghaidhan to hospital

Wednesday 27-January-2021

Israeli prison service (IPS) transferred on Wednesday the prisoner Khaled Ghaidhan 56 from Ramon prison to Soroka Hospital after his health condition deteriorated due to his infection with the coronavirus.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club said that the prisoner Ghaidhan is the second prisoner who has been transferred since Tuesday night to hospital due to his infection with the coronavirus.

It pointed out that the Jerusalemite prisoner Ayman Sidr who was carried to hospital yesterday already suffers from other diseases and health problems. Several prisoners have been transferred to the hospital since the beginning of the pandemic in Ramon prison on January 11.

The club noted that there is no accurate information about their health conditions and held the IPS fully responsible for Ghaidhan’s life and all prisoners in the occupation prisons.

Ghaidhan who is married and has six children was released in Wafa Al-Ahrar prisoner exchange agreement in 2011 after he spent 16 years. The occupation re-arrested him along with dozens of other released prisoners in 2014 and reinstated his previous life sentence.

Since the beginning of the pandemic the IPS has been procrastinating in providing the necessary preventive measures in the prisoners’ sections such as sterilizers.

The IPS also prevents the prisoners from communicating with their families and meeting with their lawyers according to the club.

The number of Palestinian prisoners infected with the coronavirus since the beginning of the outbreak reached almost 300 prisoners.
