The Israeli Rishon LeZion Magistrate’s Court ordered Arab member of the Knesset Bassel Ghattas to house arrest for ten days plus of fine of 13000 US dollars.
The Quds Press affirmed that MK Ghattas was ordered to remain under house arrest for an additional 10 days after being released from Israeli detention centers.
Ghattas was arrested last week over allegations that he smuggled cell phones to Palestinian prisoners held in Israel’s Ketziot prison.
Ghattas had earlier agreed to surrender his parliamentary immunity so that he might be investigated by Israeli police over the allegations.
Critics said the arrest represents the latest event in a concerted crackdown on Arab community in Israel.
