Injuries during IOF quelling of West Bank marches

Several Palestinians were injured on Friday after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) suppressed marches in various areas of the West Bank rejecting the escalating settlement activity.

Local sources said that clashes erupted after IOF stormed Yabad town in Jenin province and fired tear gas canisters in the Abu Shamla neighborhood. Dozens of citizens suffered breathing problems.

IOF soldiers were deployed in the vicinity of the villages and towns of Ya’bad Kefirt and Arraba in Jenin set up military roadblocks stopped vehicles and checked the ID cards of their passengers.

Confrontations were also reported in Beita town south of Nablus.

Ahmed Jibril the director of ambulance and emergency at the Red Crescent in Nablus said that two men were wounded by rubber-coated metal bullets and were treated in the field.

He added that 26 civilians suffered breathing difficulties while five others were wounded after they fell during the clashes.

Eyewitnesses said that IOF quelled an anti-settlement activity in the Ras area west of Salfit and fired rubber bullets and tear gas canisters. Several residents suffered breathing problems and a number of participants were detained.

In Beit Dajan east of Nablus a march was launched after Friday prayer from the center of the village towards the confiscated lands.

The IOF soldiers attacked the march and fired rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters at the civilians. Several citizens suffered breathing difficulties.

IOF suppressed a protest against the settlement expansion and the settlers’ repeated attacks on citizens and their properties in Masafer Yatta south of al-Khalil and detained several Palestinians and journalists.

IOF also closed the roads leading to the event and declared it a closed military zone.

Hundreds of people and landowners performed Friday prayer on their lands in the Umm al-Shaqhan area also in Masafer Yatta which is threatened to be seized by the Avigayil settlers.

IOF fired rubber-coated metal bullets sound bombs and tear gas canisters at the participants in the weekly Kafr Qaddoum march east of Qalqilya.

Eight civilians were shot one of whom was taken to the hospital for treatment and others suffered breathing problems and were treated in the field. IOF also targeted an ambulance with metal bullets which shattered its back window.
