Friday 11-December-2020

Several Palestinian citizens suffered breathing problems during clashes that broke out with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in al-Mughayir village northeast of Ramallah.

Walid Assaf the head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said that the confrontations erupted between the Palestinian youths and the IOF soldiers at the entrance to the village. Israeli soldiers fired live bullets and tear gas canisters at the citizens and several Palestinians suffered breathing difficulty according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Before the outbreak of the confrontations IOF quelled a march in the village. The national and Islamic forces called for this march and it was launched from the center of the village towards the area of Ras al-Tin which belongs to the Kafr Malik village to the east.

The participants denounced the occupation’s intention to establish a new settlement outpost. The march was also launched for the six-year anniversary of the martyrdom of a member of Fatah movement the head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission the martyr Ziyad Abu Ein and on the occasion of the passing of a week since the death of the child Ali Abu Aliya.

Assaf underlined that the marches will continue until the new settlement outpost is removed. “The people are insisting on removing it and they will not accept in any way its establishment on their land” he added.

Al-Mughayir has been subjected to continuous attacks from the occupation and its settlers the last of which was the establishment of a new settlement outpost on Kafr Malik lands in the east. These attacks are usually followed by confrontations with Palestinian youths and recently the child Aliya 13 was shot dead by the IOF in one of those protests.
