Friday 18-February-2022

87 Palestinians including 4 journalists were injured in the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) violent dispersal of a gathering of locals on Mount Sobeih in Beita town south of Nablus on Friday morning.

Violent clashes erupted after the IOF fired rubber-coated bullets teargas canisters and sound bombs at the Palestinian citizens. As a result many of them suffered breathing difficulty.

The clashes broke out after IOF soldiers stormed the area to provide protection for a settlers’ planned march in Jabal Sobeih.

The Palestinian Red crescent crews said they treated 71 casualties including 5 who were hit with rubber-coated metal bullets and 57 who suffered from breathing problems.

Meanwhile mosques called on residents to intensify presence in the Jabal Sobeih area to fight the takeover of their land by Jewish settlers who are currently building an illegal settlement and threatening the livelihoods of at least 17 Palestinian families who depend on harvesting their olives on land they have owned there for generations.

Jewish settlers have made regular raids into Beita to chop down olive trees vandalize property and provoke locals on their land.
