Injuries reported in Occupied Jerusalem clashes

Monday 11-October-2021

Violent clashes broke out in different areas of Occupied Jerusalem after Israeli police forces stormed Yusufiyah cemetery near Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday evening.

Local sources reported that injuries and arrests were reported during the clashes amid heavy presence of Israeli police.

However the Palestinian Red Crescent affirmed that Israeli policemen prevented its crews from transferring the injured persons to hospital.

Meanwhile violent clashes broke out in Silwan and Al-Tur towns amid heavy firing of teargas bombs.

Several Palestinians were injured during the clashes including a paramedic.

The clashes erupted after Israeli police officers stormed and demolished parts of Al-Yusufiyah cemetery as part of an Israeli plan to convert the Muslim cemetery into a biblical garden.

Dozens of Palestinians gathered in the area in an attempt to block the demolition process.

Al-Yusufiyah Cemetery located next to the wall surrounding the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem is one of the oldest Muslim graveyards in occupied Jerusalem.

The Israeli Municipality in Occupied Jerusalem has been attempting to demolish the historic cemetery that leads to the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque but the move was always blocked by the Palestinians.
