Dozens of Palestinians were injured on Friday in clashes with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in different West Bank provinces over the US president Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
The PIC reporter said that about 45000 Palestinians performed Friday prayer at al-Aqsa Mosque despite the strict Israeli security measures imposed on Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Jerusalem reported that 22 Palestinians were injured by Israeli gunfire during clashes in Abu Deis village.
Six Palestinian citizens were injured during the IOF quelling of a peaceful march in al-Mazra’a al-Gharbiya village northwest of Ramallah launched against the Israeli authorities’ confiscation of large areas of land in the village in favor of the construction of a new settlement road.
Local sources said that the IOF soldiers fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters at the protesters and arrested a boy whose identity has not been identified yet.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Nablus said that its crews treated 52 injuries in clashes in Huwara town.
Other confrontations were witnessed in Bab al-Zawiya in al-Khalil. Local sources said that the IOF soldiers climbed the rooftops of some Palestinian houses in the area and heavily fired tear gas canisters and sound bombs at Palestinian citizens with no injuries reported.
Meanwhile in Qalqilya seven Palestinians were injured including a child and a press photographer after the IOF quelled Kafr Qaddum’s weekly demonstration against settlement.
Popular resistance coordinator in Kafr Qaddum Murad Shtewi said that the IOF violently attacked the demonstrators with rubber-coated metal bullets sound bombs and tear gas canisters.
Several suffocation cases were reported in clashes between Palestinian youths and the IOF in Tuqu’ town east of Bethlehem.
Mayor of Tuqu’ Tayseer Abu Mefreh told Wafa that the clashes broke out after a group of Palestinian youths took to the streets to express their rejection of the latest US decisions targeting Jerusalem.
