Injuries reported in renewed Nablus clashes

Tuesday 28-December-2021

Dozens of Palestinians suffered from teargas inhalation as clashes broke out on Monday evening in Burqa town northwest of Nablus between Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and local youths.

Ghassan Daghlas who monitors Israeli settlement activities in the occupied West Bank affirmed that clashes broke out between IOF soldiers and local youths who managed to reopen Burqa’s entrances which were earlier closed by the IOF.

Dozens of people were treated at the scene from teargas suffocation.

Earlier Monday Israeli troops closed all entrances to the Burqa town and blocked movement in both directions.

However local youths managed to remove the Israeli barriers and to reopen the town’s entrances which led to the outbreak of violent clashes that witnessed IOF firing of teargas bombs.

Burqa town has witnessed over the past few days daily settler attacks backed by the IOF.

Meanwhile IOF soldiers stormed a local house in the nearby town of Qaryout only a few days after being violently attacked by Jewish settlers.

The house’s owner was seriously injured in the settler attack.

Last Week extremist settlers intensified their attacks throughout the West Bank after the killing of a settler and the injury of two others in a shooting operation in northern Nablus.

Since the incident they have been trying to launch more attacks on Palestinian citizens and their property with the help and protection of the IOF.
