Palestinian security forces in Gaza tightened on Saturday its security measures on the border with Egypt in the wake of the terror attack that took place in Sinai on Friday. The attack led to the killing and injury of 26 Egyptian soldiers.
Director General of the Internal Security Forces Major General Tawfiq Abu Naim said in a press statement on Saturday evening “Since the first moments of the attacks security measures were intensified in order to prevent any smuggling operations”.
The press statement followed a security meeting led by Abu Naim and attended by commanders of security and military apparatuses in the southern borders.
The Palestinian security official pointed out that a state of alert and preparedness prevailed among the national security forces along the border line. He extended his condolences to Egypt for the loss of soldiers who were killed in Sinai terror attack.
