Irish foreign minister visits Gaza

Ireland’s foreign affairs minister Simon Coveney arrived in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning along with a high-level diplomatic delegation.

According to the media office of the Beit Hanoun (Erez) border crossing in northern Gaza Coveney will meet with head of the Palestinian Water Authority Mazen Ghunaim who arrived in Gaza from Ramallah on Monday and discuss with him Irish investment in solar energy in Palestine.

Later Coveney along with Ghunaim will visit the desalination plant off the coast of Deir Al-Balah south of Gaza.

He plans to tour a UN-run girl school which is supported by Irish aid and hold meetings with officials from UNRWA and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights the Irish Times said.
