Islamic Bloc demands halt to PA’s arrest campaign against members

Sunday 27-August-2017

The Islamic Bloc the student wing of Hamas at an-Najah University has appealed to the government of Rami al-Hamdallah to put an end to the ongoing detention and persecution of its members by the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces.

In a press release the Islamic Bloc said that the PA security forces recently escalated their attempts to arrest its student members at an-Najah University denouncing the detention of member of the student union council Mousa Duwaikat.

The Bloc added that all its detained members are held with no legal grounds and not referred to the general prosecution office or courts affirming that the systematic arrest campaign against its members is politically motivated.

The Bloc called on all concerned human rights groups to intervene to pressure the government of al-Hamdallah and the PA to end the detention and persecution of an-Najjah student council members because of their involvement in permissible student-related activities on campus.
