OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– The Islamic-Christian commission for the support of Jerusalem and holy sites strongly denounced the Israeli Knesset for its intention to discuss a proposal calling for declaring the occupied Palestinian city of Jerusalem as a capital of Israel and the Jewish people.
In a press statement to Quds Press secretary-general of the commission Hasan Khater slammed this Israeli move as a serious step that would provoke the feelings of Palestinians who consider Jerusalem to be the capital of their homeland.
Khater said this move if implemented would violate international resolutions that affirm that Jerusalem is part of the occupied Palestinian territories and the future Palestinian state.
He stressed that such thing would shrink the chances of peace and prompt the Palestinian people to raise the ceiling of their demands concerning the occupied lands and their right to historic Palestine which was overlooked for international considerations like Jaffa Haifa Aka and other areas.
The head of the commission urged in light of this blatant Israeli attitude towards the peace process and the Palestinian people’s rights the Palestinians to resist the occupation by all means possible until they restore their rights fully.
The Israeli Knesset intends on Sunday to discuss a bill demanding the Israeli government to declare Jerusalem as a capital for the Jewish people.
