Islamic Jihad denies agreeing to truce with Israel

Tuesday 21-November-2006

Gaza – The Islamic Jihad prominent political leader Khaled Al-Batesh has absolutely denied earlier statements made by MP Azzam Al-Ahamd of Fatah that the group agreed to halt attacks on Israeli settlements.

“This is absolutely not true as the time isn’t suitable to talk about truce while IOF troops are butchering our people in Gaza Strip and the West Bank” Batesh affirmed.

He accused the international community with collusion due to its “unexplainable silence” vis-à-vis the relentless IOF troops’ massacres against Palestinian civilians asserting that the “civilized” world is responsible for the Israeli army’s targeting of innocent Palestinian civilians.

“The Israeli enemy knows no language save the language of force and therefore there is no room for truce with this kind of enemy and Israel will soon pay for the crimes it committed against our people as we shall strike in the Israeli depth” the Islamic Jihad leader threatened.

Al-Ahmed had earlier stated that five Palestinian factions agreed in principle to the calming down proposal which a number of those factions including Hamas and the Islamic Jihad vehemently denied.
